In Australia, hair transplant costs typically range from $6,000 to $25,000, depending on clinic quality, doctors expertise, and the number of grafts. The lowest-cost clinics o@en rely on high-volume procedures, unqualified technicians, and entry-level equipment, which can compromise safety and results. The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) warns against such practices, classifying them as part of the black market. Investing in a doctor-led, high-quality procedure ensures long-lasting, natural results and the highest standards of care.

When it comes to medical treatments, your health, appearance & wellbeing is at stake, so it is always advisable to choose the best, safest & highest standards of quality when seeking treatment – this is found in Australia.
Choosing to have a hair transplant is a big decision, it is a permanent procedure which will affect you for the rest of your life. Opting to do it in Australia is safer, time saving & ensures a high standard of quality & sterility. It is critical to also ensure your procedure is performed by a doctor, not random technicians. When it comes to buying products for our home or car, we don’t take short cuts, similarly it is not advisable to take shortcuts with your head.
Here are some reasons why you might choose to have a hair transplant in Australia:
1. Quality of Medical Care: Australia has a well-developed healthcare system and is known for its high standards of medical care, including in the field of hair transplantation. You can expect to receive professional and safe treatment from experienced medical practitioners.
2. Advanced Techniques: We offer state-of-the-art techniques, adapted from leading surgeons across the world, which can provide natural-looking results with minimal scarring.
3. Customised Treatment Plans: Doctors in Australia will typically provide personalised treatment plans based on your individual needs, hair loss pattern, and goals. This ensures that your transplant is tailored to your unique situation.
4. Privacy and Convenience: If you live in Australia, having the procedure done locally can be more convenient and provide better access to follow-up care. You might also feel more comfortable discussing your concerns and preferences with local medical professionals.
5. Safety: A doctor performing your procedure, with adequate acute emergency care experience & a well equiped clinic is important in minimising & managing any unforeseen risks which may occur during any procedure.
6. Trust: Meeting your doctor pre surgery, developing a relationship built on trust & understanding of goals and then following up with the same doctor is priceless.
When it comes to regenerative injections & FUE procedures, they are minimally invasive cosmetic procedures & are often accompanied by a certain level of pain & risk. However when performed by an experienced doctor who understands pain pathways, physiology & anaesthesia this can be greatly reduced.
At Hair Restoration Doctors we employ a variety of techniques to minimise your pain & ensure you have a pleasant experience. Your comfort & safety is our primary concern.
Regenerative Injections
These involve small punctures of the skin, with medical grade needles. We utilise the highest quality and smallest diameter needles to minimise pain. Furthermore our doctors employ stereotactic, thermoregulatory techniques to minimise pain of injection. This can be further reduced by the use of a variety of specially formulated anaesthetic which can be applied topically or injected intra-dermally.
FUE Hair Transplant
Our skilled doctors employ the latest technology & formulaes of anaesthetic & mild sedation to ensure a minimally painful procedure. Often our patients will be day dreaming or asleep during the procedure, or casually watching TV.
- Stereotactic & thermoregulatory anaesthesia
- Specialised topical formulas may be used
- Mild sedation that will allow you to relax & enjoy the process
- Local anaesthetic to ensure you cannot feel the procedure
- A doctor is performing the entire procedure and will top up anaesthetic at any stage required
- Note: All of our patients are surprised at how little pain they experience during our hair transplant thanks to our unique anaesthetic protocol.
It is advisable to choose a clinic where you will meet the doctor performing the procedure at the time of the first consultation. Otherwise the expectations and goals expressed by a sales representative may not reflect the operating doctors opinion or ability. Here at hair restoration doctors, all our consultations & procedures are performed by qualified doctors who understand hair loss from its basic microbiology to the surgical reality. There are no hidden costs or caviets, a fixed price for a fixed number of grafts performed by a safe, high quality, modern surgical technique.
A hair transplant is considered a permanent solution for hair loss, however as you naturally continue to bald, further treatment may be required to cover new balding areas. When you undergo a hair transplant, healthy hair follicles are carefully extracted from areas of your scalp (the back or sides) that are less susceptible to the effects of androgens & genetic hair loss. These follicles are then transplanted into the areas of thinning or baldness. Since these transplanted follicles are mostly resistant to the factors that cause hair loss, they are expected to continue growing for the rest of your life.
Our modern technique of performing PRP/PRF injections & FUE hair transplants are designed to minimise discomfort & pain for the patient. We employ innovative multimodal sensory modulation, specialised topical formulations & an international anaesthetic protocol to minimise pain. Your comfort & safety is our priority!
PRP, PRF & growth factor injections
This involves intra-dermal micro punctures of the skin. Pain is minimised by using medical grade micro needles of the smallest diameter & often can be tolerated without any anaesthetic. However we offer the option for a multimodal anaesthetic protocol to minimise the pain even further.
FUE Hair Transplant
This is a minimally invasive surgical procedure which involves multiple superficial excisions and incisions of the scalp. However when adequately anaesthetised patients feel no pain. Often our patients are so relaxed they will have multiple naps during the procedure, watch TV or chat away with the staff. The only pain one should feel is that of the anaesthetic, after which it should be pain free. The benefit of being conducted by a trained doctor is that they can accurately & efficiently minimise your pain, topping up as required throughout the procedure.
Definitely, at HRD we like to follow up monthly after our procedures, or sooner if required, whether it be over the phone or in person. This was we can monitor progress, address any concerns and intervene at any stage if required.
In order to book a date of procedure at 20% deposit is required. This is to pay for the staff & operating theatre which need to be pre booked and paid for. If you cancel prior to 14 days of the procedure you will be refunded entirely. If you cancel prior to 7 days you will be refunded half. If you cancel less than 7 days before your procedure you will unfortunately loose your deposit.
Every medication or treatment has an element of risk or adverse side effects. This risk is increased when it involves puncturing of the skin. This is why it is important to discuss with your doctor the risks & any precautions your must take. We minimise these risks by thoroughly screening our patients before proceeding with any procedure, having the highest standards of sterility & quality control and by educating patients on what to watch out for.
Regenerative Injections – PRP, PRF & Growth Factors
This is minimally invasive, with relatively low risk. Some of the risks include infection, though this is minimised with careful cleaning of the skin and a sterile working environment. Swelling & bruising are normal side effects which may occur in some individuals which can be reduced by not taking any blood thinning vitamins, medicines or products and using ice after the procedure.
Hair Transplant
All surgeries have risks, this can be reduced by having the procedure in Australia, by a doctor, not technicians. This is a longer procedure, which must be conducted by a doctor in a safe & medical grade environment with all the acute management equipment available. There are always risks, although low, with local anaesthetic & sedation, similar to a dental procedure – including allergic reactions, anaphylaxis & cardiac risks. In addition to this other risks which may occur include infections, swelling, folliculitis, over harvesting, poor growth, necrosis & an unnatural appearance. At HRD we minimise any of these risks by adopting high quality safety & operating protocols, with close post op care & prophylactic medication.
